Posted by Sermarr

One of the final pieces to be put together on "Scamicus" is his head. And I stitched his eyes/nose on with golden thread

“Mommurderum” Comes Scarily To Life

Posted by Sermarr

Today all the final pieces came together Her very electrified hairdo was really difficult to accomplish as it involved stripping stereo wire and then mangling it. Then her "head" had to be attached. And then her feet had to be made out of hinges. And then she was attached to her base. I was tired when I got finished!

“Scamicus” Sprouts Streams Of Money

Posted by Sermarr

"Scamicus" acquired a new camouflage coat of silver and gold today. It's funny that he's made of foam and paint and duct tape. Just good enough to look good. And coins that are worthless (old pre-Euro coins). Just like Bernie Madoff did. So here he is so far

“Mommurderum” Gets A Haunting Face And A New Hairdo

Posted by Sermarr

I have been steadily working on "Mommurderum". Each component now requires gluing and drying. Which usually means an overnight stay of progress. Ugh! I got to work on her hair which is electrified, like her finger went into a light socket. Now I have to figure out how to hold it in place. And I finished her "tar and brimstone" oozing stand />

“Mommurderum” Gets a Face Of Wild Despair

Posted by Sermarr

I've had quite a time figuring out how to depict the wild madness that drives a mother to murder her children. No matter her "explanation" the torture of knowing she's doing something unnatural is always there. So how to express mad purpose and grave remorse at the same time. I thought for a while that it might be tears coming from her eyes, but the answer presented itself as I dug out the "settings" for the eyes and mouth on the shell. The paint that affixes them is orange for distress and purple for sadness. Here is her face

“Mommurderum” Gets A Hairy Back

Posted by Sermarr

This has taken some time to devise and execute. Lots of little spiny metal effigy feathers with shiny excrescences of asphalt (tar and brimstone) attached. And all at different lengths and bent to the same angles. Hard to see but eventually I'll be able to put it upright after the paint/glue dries

“Scamicus” Makes Money!

Posted by Sermarr

Today I had to tackle the making of the fountain of money that "Scamicus" represents. So back to drilling coins to be suspended on glittering threads descending from him. Here are the coins all drilled and washed and dried. And then beginning to be hung.

“Scamicus” Arises

Posted by Sermarr

I've been working on a master thief figure, like a Bernie Madoff. He now has taken shape after a lot of precision drilling and gluing. He has a snakeskin core,a fractured mirror heart. We see in him the ability to capture our own unrealistic wishes for high returns. That is what makes him so powerful is this wish fulfillment. Till it falls apart
