Blue

Posted by Sermarr

Lately I've had a lot of bad news. A friend from long ago who I admired tremendously died suddenly in a freak boating accident ...and I had just seen him a few months ago for the first time in over ten years. He was just as joyous and engaged as ever. He's suddenly gone and we are all poorer for losing such good souls so early. My daughter did not get a job she really wanted and is in career existential doubt. And some other big ones. I feel unstrung by the suddenness and the number of these. So I've made Blue

Soul Scars

Posted by Sermarr

Soul Scars has moved forward today. The paint from yesterday dried and I've added a big border. This is meant to be a reservoir or incubator/hatchery where the scars germinate and produce good things or bad things. I've been thinking lately about the many things that are good in my life that come from old wounds. Good friends, moving from one place to another...all came from some scar which initiated movement toward something or someone better

Soul Scars

I've had many people be in bad spots or die lately. And each of their bad spots or deaths seems to nick my soul some. This is about soul scars and how they are buried and contained, but never gone

Binding Wounds finished

Posted by Sermarr

I finished Binding Wounds today. It doesn't look finished because I've left cords hanging, making it look unfinished. But it represents that we are never finished.

Binding Wounds. Stitches

Posted by Sermarr

Today I got into the studio for just a few hours. It's very frustrating to be both artistic and businessy. Frustrating but necessary
Binding wounds went through a lot of changes today. Painted and stitched. It is representing how far the distance between people who've wounded one another. When someone has "gotten"me I don't want to do anything but hide and repair myself.

Binding Wounds

Posted by Sermarr

Any time some wound is made, between nations, or families, or couples, it takes such a long painstaking time and great effort to bind these wounds. And they may never heal, but they're bound in order to stop them from getting worse. Here is a piece that looks at how the wounds get bound at our edges and between us

The Human Compass two yrs later

Posted by Sermarr

I am working on getting my website updated with all the pictures and descriptions before the gallery opening on Friday. I sent four hours hun he'd over the computer inputting all the information. The doors were open and a pair of ground squirrels tried to run into the kitchen and two young birds walked into my computer room. Otherwise just the click click click of computer keys

And then I finally got to the studio and went to work on The Human Compass. The gallery director would like it to be there for the opening. And there are four levels of geared circles. I have the bottom one and the top one finished. Today I worked on the next to the bottom one. It is about "where you are born". I worked out a system so that it shows countries/cities in a random name generator fashion. Tomorrow I go hiking so no work then. Here is my work table for getting The Human Compass to come out right and on time

So Love got some electricity at the last. Stitches from copper wire complete the "circuit" of love at first sight

Love At First Sight. Almost stitched up

Posted by Sermarr

Here are a lot of stitches which I added today. Only a little left to go. All the empty spaces are filled up,exactly as people talk about love at first sight being so awe inspiringly "filling up empty spaces" in their being.
