Sermarr ArtDownvest Completed

Posted by Sermarr

This is a fugue on the F-stop as the owner is a photographer (F-stop is the size of the aperture in the lens to let in less or more light)
Well I've now tried to put paint on a nylon down vest. Don't know how this will wear over time, but it looks good now. Here's hoping the paint doesn't chip off.

Sermarr Silk ArtCoat Takes Shape

Posted by Sermarr

So after much pinning and marking the outlines of the coat (thank you, Jaykirti's block printing shop for the know-how) I began to make this subdued, for me, coat. Just some restrained designs with jewel-toned colors. Here are the two arms, front and a beginning to the back. The back image has to dry before more can be added to it. Whew! No bad paint accidents

New Sermarr Website And Blog Coming First of December

Posted by Sermarr

I am having a much simpler website done. Just 12 pictures on a grid for the first page and a second page with contact info. I think simpler is better. A quick scan to see recent and representative work. We are going to try to have the blog still send emails. So send me your name if you want to keep getting emails. I will repeat this message between now and then

Making ArtClothes Jaipur-style

Posted by Sermarr

Here is a finished long "duster" just made. It was the last piece I made in Jaipur last February and just now got it stitched up by a seamstress. I have now cleared off one of the tables and going to make one of these from beautiful Dupioni silk (two different colored silk threads make this rich gold - a hot pink and a screaming yellow - one is the warp and one the weft and together gorgeous gold). And acrylic paint rather than fabric dye. So here's the table all ready with pattern laid down. It took a long time to get this table all set up and the canvas pinned down flat. Tomorrow I'll go to it

“Mommurderem” Gets Some Weird Genitalia And Shredded Clothes

Posted by Sermarr

This piece is getting scarier by the day. I guess she should. From Medea to tabloid mothers who kill their children, this crime against nature has been with us forever. And always been horrifying. And so is this piece becoming

“Mommurderem ” Gets Some Spikey Hair

Posted by Sermarr

"Mommurderem " has been growing black tumorous excrescences like she's petrifying/rotting from within. She is also now getting a "mane" of stiff old metal. Not quite sure how this will work out but I drilled a lot of holes and we'll see tomorrow when the glue dries and I resee it freshly

Whole Icon Series Hangs On Studio Wall

Posted by Sermarr

My studio walls are white brick and 14 feet tall and the icons are so small they were lost and washed out. So I painted the wall with colors from my Santa Fe house. Deep rich jewel tones that match their colors. So here they are. Am also taking down older larger work and making space for more icons which are in the works I looked up the words "myths" "icons" and "archetypes" and these are really "archetypes". Sort of Tabloid Archetypes. We read everyday about these horrifying or wonderful things and so did the ancient Greeks. So I'll call them Archetypes from now on.
